COURSE CONTENT:

In order to increase awareness and understanding of the impact of climate change on our built and landscape heritage, on Thursday the 26th and Friday the 27th October 2017, the Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre is presenting a major 2-day Education/Training Programme to provide those attending with highly useful information, as well as practical advice and guidance concerning the interventions necessary to meet the challenges climate change presents to Scotland’s historic environment.

The course, which will be held at Historic Environment Scotland’s Duff House , Banff, will incorporate presentations by a range of leading authorities from throughout the UK with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various aspects of this critically important subject – including, amongst others, Alex Hill, former Chief Advisor for The Met Office, Scotland; Professor Desmond Thompson, Principal Advisor on Science, Scottish National Heritage; Jeremy Blake, Senior Partner and Head of Sustainability at leading London Architects Purcell UK and representatives of Historic Environment Scotland’s Technical Research and Climate Change Team.

Those who will benefit from attending include: architects, building surveyors and other construction industry professionals; private individuals; owners and operators of heritage properties and members of conservation organisations; local authorities and other public sector bodies involved in the conservation, repair and maintenance of Scotland’s built and landscape heritage.

COSTS:

The fee for attending the course is: £175.00. As the Scottish Traditional Skills Training Centre is a registered charity, no VAT will be charged. This fee also includes lunch and refreshments on both days.
