SCOTTISH CASTLES ASSOCIATION - NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Culcreuch Castle Sunday 27th September 1998.
The Conference will be the first open event organised by the
S.C.A.
There will be several guest speakers, and will feature three main themes -
"THE GLORY THAT IS OURS"
"OUR SCOTTISH RENAISSANCE HERITAGE"
"THE 16TH CENTURY LAIRDS
HOOSE"
NIGEL TRANTER - Our President, Scottish writer, historian, castles authority,
Will speak on "RESTORING OUR HERITAGE".
Prof. CHARLES McKEAN - Professor of Scottish Architectural History, University of Dundee,
Will speak on "SCOTTISH CHATEAU, YARDS & POLICIES"
from the point of view of "CULTURE AND STRUCTURE".
Dr. CHRIS TABRAHAM - Principle Inspector of Ancient Monuments, Historic Scotland,
Will assure us that "SIZE ISN'T EVERYTHING, BUT...."
An investigation into the size of lordly accommodation in the 16th Century.
Dr. AONGHUS McKENZIE - Historic Scotland,
Will talk about "THE KINGS MAISTERS OF WORK".
Dr. MICHAEL BATH - Strathclyde University,
Will walk us through "ARTICULATED SPACES", the decorated long gallery in Scotland.
JUDY, LADY STEEL OF AIKWOOD
Will share with us "A 20TH CENTURY RENAISSANCE IN A 16TH CENTURY HOME"
The Conference will end with an open forum with questions, discussions, and summing up.
Dinner at Culcreuch Castle on the Sunday evening will allow members and speakers
to reflect on the Conference and to explore the many further aspects that will arise.
(Due to limited spaces available, separate reservation for Dinner is required)
CONFERENCE FEE IS £25.00 - INCLUDING "SIT DOWN" LUNCH.
AFTER CONFERENCE DINNER at 7pm, - £14.00 per person. (Separate reservation required)
There will be a Book & Publication Display & Sales plus A Book, Bring & Buy & Exchange Area.
