Castlemilk House Fireplace, Castlemilk Stables and what is left of Castlemilk Castle
The fireplace of Castlemilk House is once again on public view.
When the 15th century castle of Castlemilk was demolished in 1969 the fireplace was saved for future display. It depicts the Siege of Orleans in 1429 where Sir William Stewart of Castlemilk was killed in the service of the Dauphin, later Charles VII of France.
The recent award winning restoration of the Georgian Stables at Castlemilk has enabled this wonderful carving to be put on view for the first time in 40 years.
Of the castle itself a stump yet remains embodied in the children's playground alongside.
