Cavers House today: The ancient tower - roofless and shorn of additions

Cavers House (built between 1750 and 1884) was demolished in 1953 but the lofty tower house which formed its nucleus was allowed to remain, albeit as a roofless ruin. This massive tower is of especial interest as the lower parts could date back as far back as the 13th century.

Cavers has been on the Buildings at Risk register for some years. It was on the market in 2005 for £250k but if sold is unknown. An inspection of August 2011 reported that the condition of the building is little altered from what can be seen above.
