Fairburn Tower
We will be visiting Fairburn Tower during our tour.
Introduction: We will be exploring castles in the Black Isle and Nairnshire areas in September 2024.
Tour Dates: Saturday 7th September – Sunday 8th September 2024
Friday: SCA member Connie Rodriguez will be giving us an exclusive archaeology tour of Castle Craig in the afternoon - time to be confirmed - so it's well worth arriving early to catch this.

Dinner 7.30pm – you have the option of joining us for dinner at the Priory Hotel.
Saturday: The bus will depart at approximately 9am (to be confirmed). A full itinerary of the castles we plan to visit will follow but, so far, Moniack Castle, Red Castle, Leod Castle and Fairburn Tower are confirmed. Lunch will be taken at Tulloch Castle.
A dinner will take place on Saturday evening at 7.30pm at Corner on the Square. All are welcome.
Sunday: The bus will depart at approximately 9am (to be confirmed). A full itinerary of the castles we plan to visit will follow but confirmed so far are: Cawdor Castle and Rait Castle. Lunch will be taken at Culloden House.

The bus will depart from a hotel in Beauly (to be confirmed). Accomodation booking options are shown below.

The following rooms are being held for us at Beauly hotels – if you wish to make a booking, please book directly with the hotel and mention that you are with the Scottish Castles Association:

The Priory Hotel (01463 782309):
  • 8 rooms for 6th & 7th September at £160.00-£170.00 per night B&B
  • 3 rooms for 7th September only at £140.00 - £175.00 per night B&B
The Lovat Arms (01463 782313):
  • 7 rooms at the Lovat for 6th & 7th September at £140.00 per night B&B
The Downright Gabbler (01463 782800):
  • 3 rooms at the Downright Gabbler for 6th & 7th September per night at £110.00-£130.00. No breakfast is included in these rates.
  • These rooms are only being held until Friday 28th June
Members are encouraged to book rooms as early as possible to avoid disappointment.

Tour Itinerary:
See Saturday/Sunday sections above for details of the castles we will be visiting.
Cost: The cost of the tour will be approximately £55 per day (to be confirmed) per member. The cost covers the coach travel, lunches and any entry fees. Payment can be made directly to the Scottish Castles Association, details will follow on the attendance form.
Additional Info: If you are a member of Historic Environment Scotland, please bring your membership card in case we visit one of their properties.
