SCA Castle Tour to Roxburghshire - April 2023

Introduction: We will be exploring the Roxburghshire region in April 2023.
Tour Dates: Saturday 15th April – Sunday 16th April 2023
Friday: Members may choose to arrive on this day
Saturday: A full itinerary of the weekend will be published once details are finalised but, so far, this is a selection of the sites we propose to visit over the weekend: Trimontium Roman museum with link to Abbey House | Bedrule (recent archaeological dig as part of 12 Towers of Rule project) | Darnick Tower (private) and Fisher's Tower (ruin) | Drumlanrig Tower (museum in Hawick) | Hillslap Tower (private) - winner of Tranter Award 2021 | Queen Mary's House (museum in Jedburgh) | Roxburgh Castle, Kelso (ruin)

The AGM will take place on Saturday in the Ednam House Hotel at 6.30pm

Ednam House Hotel, Bridge Street, Kelso, TD5 7HT. Visit the Ednam House Hotel's website here. The hotel is close to the centre of Kelso so a variety of alternative accommodation is available.

Hotel Rates
Information:

The Ednam House Hotel is offering the following rates for accommodation. DOUBLE: B&B - £160. Dinner, B&B – £240. SINGLE: B&B £148. Dinner, B&B £188. Contact Louise Taylor on 01573 224168 or on sales@ednamhouse.com, quoting SCA.

A £20 non-refundable deposit is required when booking. Remaining balance due one week prior to visit. Please book directly with the hotel. An attendance form will be sent to you prior to the tour.

Attendance Form: An attendance form will be emailed directly to all members
Cost: The cost of the tour is £40 per day, per person for members and £50 per day for guests/non-members. This covers the coach travel, lunches and entry to most sites. Payment can be made directly to the Scottish Castles Association, details will follow on the attendance form.
Additional Info: If you are a member of Historic Environment Scotland, please bring your membership card in case 'flexiplan' necessitates a visit to one of their local properties: Commendator's House, Melrose, Hermitage Castle or Smailholm Tower.
