Drum Castle

Drum Castle, Aberdeenshire has completed a £700,000 refurbishment. For months the castle had been obscured by scaffolding. The cement rendering (the cause of dampness) had to be removed and replaced by traditional, breathable, lime mortar. Work will, however, continue in the interior. Funding for the project was provided by an anonymous donor and Historic Scotland.

The castle is the seat of the Chief of Clan Irvine and arguably the oldest habitable tower in Scotland.
